Overview
AHMCT prioritizes the safe use of its equipment to allow its members to safely and efficiently use the right tool to meet their research task needs. Below are resources to Safe/Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment that can be found in our research areas. The SOPs are a quick safety reference and provide tips for equipment use. This information is not a substitute for the manufacturer, OSHA, and other equipment training materials. Equipment manuals are also a great resource for safe operations and maintenance. Manuals are stored in a central location in near each restricted workspace (see below).
Any equipment that is in a restricted area can only be utilized by authorized users.
In order to become an authorized user an employee must complete:
1. Classroom Training- to discuss shop rules, policies, and safety procedures (often covered in onboarding training).
2. Practical Hands-On Training-for each piece of equipment the user will have access to.
Restricted Areas
1. Academic Surge Building 1123/1048
This is a mechatronics and robotics prototype area, there are several 3D printers, a waterjet cutter, and a soldering station. The SOPs' for this equipment are below or in process of being finalized. The manufacturer manuals and other reference documents are stored on the same shelfing rack in the middle of Room 1123 as the IIPP binder.
SOPs for 1123/1048:
1. Water Jet Cutter
2. Reflow Oven
3. ProtoMat C60
4. SLA 3D Printer
5. FDM 3D Printer
6. Aubo Robots i5
2. ATIRC
This is a fabrication and prototype area intended for both small scale and large vehicle integration. There are many pieces of equipment in 2 restricted areas. Access to this equipment is typically limited to staff and occasionally students may be granted access if their project necessitates. The SOPs for this equipment are below or in process of being finalized. The manufacturer manuals and other reference documents are stored by the refrigerator in the office next to the IIPP.
